Wine maker notes
One characteristic of the Pinino Brunello di Montalcinois the long obligatory ageing during four years before it can be sold. Production, refinement and bottling must take place in the municipality of Montalcino. According to the best of traditions our Brunello matures in large oak barrels.

At the time being, the Pinino Estate vinificates three wines: Pinino, Cupio an ClanDestino, each of them as either Brunello or Rosso di Montalcino. The wines differ distinctively in vinification and taste. Pinino and Cupio, Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino are aged in large, classic barrels of Slavionan Oak, and brought to maturity according to a disciplined process. In contrast, the ClanDestino wines, the Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino, are aged in French Oak barrels. This aging process is inspired by the idea that with Pinino, there is room for innovation. Based on experience, these wines are preferred by a younger audience. Brunello di Montalcino was one of the first wines ever to receive the designation DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata). It was also the first Italian wine to receive the designation DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita). This wine, which is exclusively produced from the “Sangiovese Grosso” grapes, is exceptional in every respect. On one hand are the favourable climate conditions and the richness of the loamy and limy soil that gives the grapes their unique flavour. The second and not less important factor is the expertise in the production in this region, which is also characterized by the long maturing of at least two years in large oak wood barrels, and recently also in French Barriques. The techniques of wine production are here still passed on from generation to generation. The combination of all factors are the base why Brunello di Montalcino has become the synonym for superior qualtity. Without a doubt, this wine has become the representative for all Italian premium wines. Vinification, sophistication and bottling may exclusively be carried out in the commune of Montalcino.
