Bright, fruity and juicy, with red raspberry and sweet cherry flavors that finish with fresh, spicy notes. On the palate, medium bodied, smooth tannins and very enjoyable.
| Wine maker notes |
| Casa Santos Lima has been a family owned business for four generations and was founded in the late 1800s by Joaquim Santos Lima. Currently Jose Luis Oliveira da Silva, great grandson of the founder is in charge of operations. During his tenure, the focus at Casa Santos Lima has been towards modernization. They have replaced and updated most of the winemaking equipment and replanted many of the vineyards to more international varietals (Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah), while still holding true to their Portuguese roots by maintaining no less than 40 indigenous varietals. While many people think of Portuguese red wines as being light, Casa Santos Lima has been dispelling this myth by producing big and hearty red wines. |
| Technical notes |
| Very aromatic with notes of ripe black and red fruit. The palate has a fruity attack with a fat and rich substance that balances with the oak notes and pronounced acidity. Like in Spain, this estate has been vineyard owners for many years and only recently started to make wine. Blend of Castelao, Camarate and Tinta Miuda.
